Description - Category management is a strategic approach which organizes procurement resources to focus on specific areas of spends.  Category Managers focus on understanding the current market trends, benchmarking with other companies, spend analysis, internal service delivery model, and procurement sourcing strategies to fully identify cost savings/business process improvements opportunities to produce improved business results.   

Kathy Briski, a procurement and corporate travel leader will explain the category management methodology and how this methodology is used for the Travel Category.   Participates will be lead thru the category profile process specifically for the travel category.  This discussion will be participative and informative so we hope you can join us.

Kathy Briski has a proven track record in managing corporate travel programs, travel procurement sourcing and category management, developing and enforcing corporate policies and procedures, overhauling ineffective methods, implementing new efficient technologies and cost containment. 

Over her career, Kathy has worked in a variety of industries including aerospace, banking, entertainment, software, merger and acquisitions, and consulting.  She has held positions such as Vice President of Corporate Purchasing & Travel for MGM Studios, Director of Travel and Purchasing for Platinum Equity, Travel Category Manager for Accenture and Senior Category Manager – Corporate Travel Programs for IBM. 

Kathy is currently the Travel Category Manager at The Boeing Company.  Responsibilities include providing overall category strategy for Boeing’s corporate travel program, including leading cross functional teams, best practice methodology and compliance, lead sourcing strategies, provide contract and supplier relationship management activities. 

Kathy holds a Masters in Business Administration, C.P.M. (Certified Purchasing Manager) and GTP (Global Travel Professional) designations.  She is an active member of GBTA (Global Business Travel Association) and the Los Angeles Business Travel Association (LABTA).  She has previously held several board positions including President of the Los Angeles BTA and Puget Sound BTA.  Kathy is currently a GBTA Board Member, President of LABTA, and a member on the GBTA Education Committee.
