GBTA Take Action - Potential US Government Shutdown and Business Travel

This past week, the U.S. Senate approved of the Biden Administration’s choice for a new FAA Administrator. This position has been temporarily filled for 18 months. GBTA supports the approval of Mr. Whitacker and pushed for his nomination.
As we pushed for at the Legislative Summit, Congress and the FAA play critical roles in addressing these items.
Technology:
Congress must enable these critical upgrades, to further improve efficiency by unlocking shorter, more flexible, and more efficient flight paths. This will reduce flight times for travelers and cut greenhouse gas emissions compared with the current, outdated system.
In addition, Congress must provide the resources and authorities necessary to integrate Advanced Air Mobility technologies and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) into the NAS. These technologies could transform passenger air travel as we know it and revolutionize urban and rural air mobility and connectivity. In doing so, Congress must also prioritize the physical infrastructure necessary to facilitate these new entrants.
